A Chinese worker has been killed and almost 150 other people injured as protesters attacked a steel mill in Vietnam, amid anti-China tensions over the South China Sea dispute. 南중국海 문제로 反중국 정서가 고조된 가운데, 시위자들이 베트남에 있는 한 제철 공장을 공격하면서, 1명의 중국인 근로자가 사망하고 약 150명이 부당 당했다.

The incident took place at a Taiwanese-owned mill in Ha Tinh province. 이 사고는 하띤 省에 있는 대만인 소유의 공장에서 발생했다.

It came a day after protesters burnt several foreign-owned factories at an industrial park. 이 사건은 시위자들이 공단에 있는 여러 곳의 외국인 소유 공장들에 방화를 한 다음날 발생했다.

The demonstrations have been sparked by China's movement of a drilling rig into waters also claimed by Vietnam. 베트남 영유라 주장하는 곳의 물 속에 석유탐사 시설을 운반하는 과정에 의해 여러 건의 시위들이 촉발되었다.

Several anti-China protests have since taken place in Vietnam. Nationalist sentiment is currently running very high over the issue, correspondents say. 여러 건의 反중국 시위들이 그 이후에 베트남에서 발생했다. 국가주의 정서는 현재 이 문제로 활활 타오르고 있다고 통신원들은 전한다.

A Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman said the violence had "a direct link with the Vietnamese side's indulgence and connivance in recent days with some domestic anti-China forces and lawbreakers". 중국 외교부 대변은 성명을 내어 이번의 폭력은 "최근 일부 베트남內 反중국세력이나 범법자들에 대한 베트남측의 묵인과 방조와 직접적 관계"가 있다고 발언했다.

In an emergency letter to the police ministry, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung called the protests against the "illegal oil rig" a "legitimate action". But he said those who broke the law should be punished and foreign business activities protected. 응우엔 딴 증 총리는 치안부에 보낸 긴급 서신에서,"불법적 석유시추"에 대한 이번 시위는 "합법적 행동"이라 했다. 그러나 그는 법을 위반하는 사람은 누구나 처벌을 받을 것이고 외국계기업활동은 보호받을 것이라 말했다.

Taiwanese media said people speaking in Chinese were being targeted. 대만 언론은 중국어를 쓰는 사람들이 타켓이 되었다고 보도하였다.

Ohter reports said some people were trying to leave the country. More than 600 Chinese people had crossed into Cambodia at one border checkpoint alone, Cambodian officials said. 다른 매체들은 일부 사람들은 베트남을 떠나려고 한다고 보도했다. 캄보디아 관리들은 600명 넘는 중국인들이 한 국경검문소에서 캄보디아로 넘어왔다고 전했다.

In a statement quoted by Reuters news agency, the company said its Vietnamese and Taiwanese workers were not attacked. 로이터 통신사가 인용한 기사를 보면, 그 회사의 베트남 근로자들과 대만인 근로자들은 공격을 당하지 않았다고 회사측은 말했다고 한다.

The BBC's Nga Pham says the protests have confirmed the government's worst fear that nationalism could easily get out of hand, posing a risk not only to the business environment but also to domestic political stability.
