After having lived for many years in Latin America, Oceania and Africa, Vltchek presently resides and works in Asia and the Middle East.

André Vltchek was born in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), the Soviet Union, in 1963. He has spent most of his adult life in New York City, Asia and Latin America and has worked and lived in all of the continents of the world. Since 2004, Vltchek has served as a Senior Fellow at the Oakland Institute, serves as a Governor at the Atoll Institute and is a member of the Advisory Committee of the BRussells Tribunal.
Vltchek has appeared on various television and radio shows including those on France 24,[1] RT,[2] Sputnik,[3] China Radio International,[4][5] The Voice of Russia,[6] Press TV,[7]CCTV, Ulusal Kanal (Turkey), Al-Mayadeen (Pan-Arabic network), Radio Pacifika, Radio Cape, among others.
Andre has been interviewed by publications such as People's Daily,[8] China Daily,[9] Tehran Times,[10] CounterPunch,[11] L'Antidiplomatico [12] and many others.
He has delivered lectures at the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies, Columbia University, Cornell University, University of Sydney, University of Melbourne, Tsinghua University (Beijing), Hong Kong University and Universidad ARCIS (Santiago, Chile),[13] University of Indonesia, University of the Philippines, and University of South Africa.[14]
On 30 January 2016, Vltchek was invited to address the Italian Parliament [15] where he criticized Western imperialism and neocolonialist plunder. In 2015, he was a key speaker at the China Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing and delivered a major speech after the President at an international conference about the Iranian victims of terrorism in Tehran, Iran.
Vltchek is a Co-Founder of a left-wing international publishing house, Badak Merah.[16]

Vltchek is the author of several non-fiction titles that center on Western imperialism and Western expansionism. Most of them are written in English and have so far been translated into 15 languages, including French, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Bahasa Indonesia.

Vltchek is the author of several fictional novels and plays.

Documentaries[edit]
Vltchek is producing and directing documentary films for a Venezuela-based international television network, Telesur, including those on Turkish/Syrian border, Egypt; Surabaya, Indonesia; Okinawa, Japan; Nairobi, Kenya. He closely works with the Russian Today (RT) and Press TV.
Since the 1980s, Vltchek has worked as war correspondent and photographer, covering conflicts all over the world.
In 2004 he produced and directed a feature-length documentary film about the Indonesian massacres in 1965 – Terlena – Breaking of The Nation. Right after a devastating earthquake that shook Chile in February 2010, Vltchek travelled to Chile and throughout the country and produced a video titled Chile Between Two Earthquakes.
For UNESCO Vltchek wrote and directed a film Tumaini about social collapse and devastation caused by HIV pandemic in communities around Lake Victoria in Kenya. In 2012, he wrote and directed 27-minute and 70-minute feature films One Flew Over Dadaab to depict the 20-year long tragedy of Somali refugees in the largest refugee camps in the world: Dadaab, situated in Northern Kenya.
He has recently finalized a feature-length documentary film The Rwanda Gambit challenging the western narrative on genocide in Rwanda and its plunder in neighboring DR Congo.
