Her name means Golden Star in Chinese. Without out of doubt, she is one of the brightest personalities in China today. She is the reigning queen of modern dance in China. But that's just beginning. When she is not career graphing her company, she’s staring in martial arts movies. That's her on a motorcycle. .... And on the top she even has her own talk show.
Interviewer: “What can you not do? You have danced. You sing. You act. Anything you can’t do?”
Jin Xing: “Computer, financial, stock market, I'm idiot for that. But I think I'm good in communicate. I'm straightforward without hesitation.”
Speaking the truth is what China has come to expect from Jin Xing. But Americans have never met anyone like her. Her company Jin Xing dance theater recently tours to US where’s first time. From here in New York City, just hours before curtain rises the pressure mounts she explores her technical directors from excuse.
Jin Xing: “.. If dancers make mistake, get fired. ....”
Jin Xing states are high. 20 years ago she tried to be a modern dancer in New York. When she left Europe, her mentor said she was walking away from her own shot and making it. She vowed to prove it wrong.
Jin Xing: “I said I only come back to New York with my own dance company. I don't even come back to visit.”
Interviewer: “You won't come back until… .”
Jin Xing: “Exactly.”
Interviewer:
Jing Xing: “I've kept this promise for 20 years.”
She made it back. Jin Xing has changed dramatically since she was last year.
Interviewer: “There was one another key difference between when you're here 20 years ago and now.”
Jin Xing: “Then I was a male dancer. Now I'm a female dancer.”
A male dancer. Tha'’s right. Last time Jin Xing was here as a male dancer. Jin Xing was one of the first people who ever had sex change operation then in China major surgery doctor in China performed before there were complications in Xing last … she lost one leg temporarily. But she emerged as a woman and just 3 months after the surgery she was back on stage in Beijing.
Interviewer: “If people come to see you, because of your story, is that okay?
Jin Xing: “Doesn't matter. My story brought into the public. I'm already succeed, because after one and half hour of talking about my dancing, not about my sex change.”
