China charges former president's top aide Ling Jihua 중국정부는 前주석 시진핑의 고위참모 링지화(令计划/령계획1956-) 부패혐의로 기소

A former top aide to ex-Chinese President Hu Jintao has been charged with corruption and removed from the party, according to state media. 중국의 전직 주석 후진타오의 고위 참모가 부패혐의로 기소되면서 당에서 출당되었다고 국영매체는 전한다.

Ling Jihua is accused of taking bribes and committing sexual misconduct, news agency Xinhua said. 신화사에 따르면, 링지화는 뇌물을 받았고 부적절한 성행위를 한 혐의를 받고 있다고 한다.

Mr Ling was demoted in 2012 after reports that his son died in a high-speed Ferrari crash in Beijing. 링은 아들이 북경에서 페라리 차사고로 사망했다는 소식이 전해진 후 2012년 강등되었다.

His arrest comes amid a crackdown on alleged corruption by current president Xi Jinping. 그가 체포된 것은 현 주석 시진핑이 주도하는 부패 사안에 대한 진압 차원에서 행해진 것이다.

An investigation into Mr Ling's alleged wrongdoing was announced by authorities in December. He was accused at the time of "serious disciplinary violations" - usually a euphemism for corruption. 링의 혐의에 대한 조사는 지난 해 12월 선언된 바 있다. 그는 보통 부패에 대한 완곡어법으로 불리는 "심각한 규율위반"의 시기에 기소되었던 것이다.

Xinhua has now reported that Mr Ling "seriously violated the political discipline and rules of the CPC (Communist Party of China)", citing a statement released by the ruling party's central committee.

"He took advantage of his posts to seek profit for others and accepted huge bribes personally and through his family," the report said.

'Adultery' '간음'

The report also accused Mr Ling of using his position to commit adultery and benefit his wife's business. 보고서에 의하면, 그는 직위를 이용해 간음을 했고 부인의 사업에 이익을 주었다는 혐의를 받고 있다.

Communist Party members can be charged with adultery as they are supposed to be upstanding members of society. The charge is frequently levelled at officials accused of corruption. 공산당원들 가운데 고위직에 있는 사람들은 간음으로 기소될 수 있다. 이 기소는 부패 혐의를 받고 있는 사람들에게 겨냥해 흔히 적용된다.

Mr Ling - once a senior figure within the party, equivalent to a US president's chief of staff - suffered a huge blow to his career from the scandal that followed his son's car crash. 그의 직위는 한 때 미국 대통령의 비서실장에 상응하는 당내에서 중요한 인물이었는데, 현재는 아들의 차사고 이후 터진 스캔들로 경력에 심각한 타격을 받고 있다.

Despite a media blackout over the event, reports suggested there were two young women in the car, one nude and one partially clothed. 이 사건에 대한 언론통제에도 불구하고, 알려진 바에 의하면 그 차 안에는 두 명의 여성이 있었는데, 한 사람은 누드상태였고 다른 한 사람은 몸이 많이 노출된 상태였다.

An investigation was announced into his brother, Ling Zhengce, last June. 지난 6월 링의 형제에 대한 조사도 있을 것이라 사법당국은 발표했다.

Mr Xi has targeted several high-ranking officials in his crackdown on corruption, including former domestic security chief Zhou Yongkang, 72, who the government said last month had been jailed for life following a closed-door trial.

Last year, former top economic official Liu Tienan was jailed for life for accepting millions of dollars in bribes.

Critics say President Xi's campaign is as much about eliminating political rivals as it is about tackling corruption.
