Three Muslim teens in Indonesia are taking on religious conservatives who think hijab-wearing women must be quiet, submissive and shy. When the three jam as “Voice of Baceprot” at concerts across the country, they prove they can be loud, much louder than the others - both literally and figuratively. The Diplomat caught up with them at their rehearsal last week in Jakarta. Vocalist and guitarist Firdda, bassist Widi and drummer Euis spoke about their journey into the world of heavy music in the country with the world’s largest Muslim population.
