   비틀즈의 Let it be는 젊었을 적부터 익히 들어왔던 노래인데, 신기하게도 지금까지 가사에는, 가사의 내용에는 주목한 적이 없었다. 그러다가 어제 라디오에서 이 음악을 듣다가 Mother Mary라는 말, 성모 마리아라는 말이 들려, 가사 내용이 궁금해 인터넷을 검색해보았다. 한국어 번역은 다른 사람의 번역을 참고해 내가 해 보았다. 이 노래는 종교적인 내용이라고 생가할 수 있으나, 일반적으로 널리 알려진 노래이니, 가사에 등장하는 성모 마리아를 다른 사람(예컨대, 어머니, 아버지, 은사, 멘토 등)으로 대입해서 생각해도 좋을 듯 싶다. 이 노래는 무엇보다 Let it be(그냥 둬)라는 말로 대표되는 지지와 격려를 해주는 내용이니만큼, 힘을 내야 할 때, 어려움에 처했을 때, 들으면 좋을 것 같다.
